Amazing game, fun to speedrun. one suggestion tho: when you freeze the witch, its permanent, letting me cheese it. if you could make it temporary, along with other bosses maybe, than i feel like that could be an improvement
Surprisingly satisfying bullet hell despite the relatively low difficulty. Really liked the secrets and enemy designs. I think it's cool how much the cards combo into each other tactically even though they tend not to mechanically. Poison arrow is nuts, is that the reason it seems like there's only one of it? I wonder what the non-true endings are, I might replay the game some time for those.

I've been grinding on Akella the Wolf and now I have one max arrow barrage, one max arrow exploding, one max protective rune, one max bane of the woods, one max draw, two max extra hearts, two max magic missiles, three max poison darts, one max rain, one level 2 rat, the skull card, one max dark archer's mark, one max shield bash, one max shield, one max split shooter, one max swords of ka, two max eldritch hourglasses and one level 2 one, two witch curses, and two witches knife.
Honestly, all you need to win are the reversal hex, the poison arrow, and the shield bash. The shield bash does so much damage, same for the poison arrow, and the reversal hex does so much damage too. My strategy is run up to the strongest enemy, and just unleash all of my cards at the same time.
For levels? yes, but for the bosses just use the frostbite card (the one that freezes enemies) and the boss NEVER u freezes, so you can just sit there attacking him without any projectiles getting fired
It's an excellent game I really enjoyed it but never saw the use of the "???" card I got it to max level and it really didn't do anything. I just wanna know what that card is. Other than that really cool game
It's a bit weird that mana is heart shaped, should probably be star shaped I think every card should cost mana as I never had to look at the mana meter when casting cards
I think the hitboxes are a bit off, seemed to not take damage when I should have a few times It's also not great that the cards can't combo with each other since that's one of the most important features of a roguelike like this
There's a bit of an inconsistent artstyle in this game with high quality pixel art, minimalist pixel art, smooth drawings. Being consistent is more important than having high quality art. The reward coins also need a proper sprite other than just a circle.
Not sure about getting every card at once between waves as well, I feel like they should either be earned through dodging or collecting, or each have a cooldown. Or if there's a mana rework then having mana collected on the battlefield or have a cooldown would be good.
A small change that would be nice could be making time only slow down and not stop when choosing cards to keep some of the tension.
I didn't seem to get a reward from beating an elite enemy (skull with crown). Seems strange, players should be rewarded for more difficult fights.
Also not sure why I lost all my mana/health upgrades after beating the boss, not necessarily a bad thing but should probably be communicated to the player at least.
I will say that this game was more enjoyable than One Step from Eden for me. I really like the merging cards mechanic and all the charming characters. Combat felt pretty good in general as well. I recommend you increase the player shot speed, add particles, bassy sfx, knockback, more particles, etc to make the game feel super juicy. The "Juice it or Loose it" talk on youtube is great for tips about this.

I agree on all points, I had a rough (but fun) time putting this together alone so I just decided to roll with some imperfections on the initial release and see how it goes if at least the general direction is right, if people like the setting and stuff.
I'm thinking of a way of reworking the deck and the mana system. I've had some ideas after getting the feedback from this release.
Getting cards to combo or make them being used tactically in a bullet hell proved to be a surprisingly hard challenge that requires ton of iteration.
It's nice that you've mentioned One Step from Eden it's a great game, and I've been looking to make a more casual version of this sort of experience! Albeit I only found out that this game exists after completing 90% of this game.

the extra heart(and the rat) card would never get drawn to my hand, even with 3 uses of max tier tricky draw

I loved every single second of this game. it was really hard at the end but it was so worth it!!!!!!!!
First of all, I loved the game! I had some questions/nitpicks, though:
1) Why is some art so much more detailed than others? ex. the witch's overworld sprite and the witch's dialogue image
2) Does the black deck only have the double damage card?
3) Some cards have titles in all caps, when others are normal.
4) The player's hitbox is strange, as I think shots that hit the player's head just go through.
5) It can be confusing how the Goblin bomb thing releases blue projectiles instead of yellow.
6) Is there a way I can get into the basement again, or does it have no more use after defeating its boss?
7) Will there be a steam version or any more updates / anything more of the game?

I was fighting the witch at the end and she was at around 20 health. I then accidently used the skull card, which restarted the whole fight. XD

"secret" boss was kinda easy, I used a lvl 3 split shot + time freeze to skip their second phase

Hey man thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it. The black deck thing is sort of a gag I thought it would be funny.
The final boss can be easy if you have your cards upgraded, I'm still ironing out the balance to get more depth from the cards.
If you are doing balance, clock attack is too strong when leveled up, you can stack up tons of bullets if you have other buffs and wipe bosses

Awesome! I think we need more witch-aesthetic type games.
AAA graphics, top gameplay, but small hitboxes. Used the card for increase projectile size just for hit the flying mouse.
